I don’t usually make a big deal out of my birthday (3/22).
Not because I don’t appreciate it.
But because I’ve come to understand something over time.
Every day is a gift.
That’s why we call this moment the present.
So I try not to wait for one day to reflect on that.
But this year felt a little different.
I recognize that many people don’t make it this far.
And that in itself is a blessing.
My wife made the day special, as she always does.
I’m grateful for that.
We kept it simple.
A dope jazz show at the Columbus Museum of Art.
A walk through The Book Loft in German Village.
Dinner at The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek.
Nothing over the top.
Just a good day.
Relaxed.
Present.
Kid-free, for the most part.
And that was more than enough.
I’m grateful for another year.
Grateful for growth.
Grateful for life.
And especially grateful for the woman I get to share it with.
And that’s something I don’t take for granted.
